WHO WE ARE

Developer, Center Manager, and Retail Real Estate Partner

SES Spar European Shopping Centers is a developer, builder, and operator of large-scale, mixed-use properties, with an emphasis on retail and services. SES currently manages 31 shopping locations in six Central and Southern European countries. In Austria and Slovenia, SES is the market leader in large-scale shopping centers.

As a service to external partners, SES also offers its know-how in the areas of project development, construction management, leasing of shop space, as well as asset, center, and facility management for shopping centers. Observing a holistic approach and high quality standards, SES creates customized, successful, and unique shopping destinations.

We embody the Spirit of Retailing, and it sets us apart. Our roots are in retail – and that is what shapes us. We are a subsidiary of the SPAR Austria Group, which, with its three corporate pillars, has enjoyed decades of success as a Central European retail group: food trade (SPAR, INTERSPAR), sporting goods (Hervis), and shopping centers (SES). We incorporate solid know-how in retail, and a special flair for the people who shop and work at SES shopping malls, into the design of a shopping center.

Urban Market Places With a Recreational Factor: The locations within SES’s portfolio comprise neighborhood centers and district centers, as well as mixed-use downtown quarters, supraregional shopping magnets, and a managed shopping street.

International Award Winner

We are proud to set standards for the industry. SES and its centers have already won several national and international architecture, design, sustainability, transport design, and innovative marketing awards. Here are the most prominent awards at a glance:

1st Place: SES Ranked As Most Competent Operator

In the latest Ecostra Shopping Center Performance Report, SES received the best rating from the tenants surveyed for its competence and performance in the operation of shopping centers (leasing, management, marketing, etc.).

ALEJA: ECSP Design and Development Award 2023

The latest Slovenian center has won the international award in the category “New center developments over 15,000 to 45,000 square meters”. Europe’s largest retail real estate association, the European Council of Shopping Places (ECSP), awards the prizes for particularly outstanding projects in the shopping real estate sector.

ALEJA: Global RLI Award 2021, London, GB

The most recent Slovenian center has received the worldwide Shopping Center Award in the “International Shopping Center – New Build” category. The award is in recognition of the particularly high level of customer focus to be found at the mixed-use ALEJA center.

EUROPARK: ICSC European Award 2017, Warsaw, Poland

EUROPARK in Salzburg gained was granted an award in the “Established Shopping Centers” category by the International Council of Shopping Centers. The award is only presented to centers that received an ICSC award shortly after their opening and that performed extraordinarily well in all areas for at least 10 years thereafter.

WEBERZEILE: ICSC Regeneration Award 2017, Warsaw, Poland

WEBERZEILE and the town of Ried in the Innkreis district won the “ICSC Regeneration Award 2017”, by which the ICSC honors centers that have been opened within the European region within the prior two years and that have been acting as pioneers in making downtown areas more attractive.

MURPARK: ICSC European Shopping Center Award 2013, Stockholm, Sweden

MURPARK gained the ICSC European Shopping Center Award in the “Established Centers” category. The Graz-based shopping center convinced the jury via its well thought-out traffic concept, which was established via a public-private partnership with the city of Graz, as well as the infrastructure and the quality of stay.

Q19: Certificate of Merit 2008 / Design & Development Awards, Phoenix, USA

In 2008, Q19 ranked among the world’s top three shopping centers in the “Shopping Center of less than 15,000 Square Meters” category.

MURPARK: MAPIC Retail Future Project Award 2005, Cannes, France

MURPARK in Graz won the “MAPIC – Retail Future Project Award 2005” as part of the global competition organized by the “Plaza” trade journal. In the “Best Shopping Center Near a Transport Hub” category, MURPARK achieved an impressive second place.
